Here is our Beautiful Beginnings April 2017 Yummy Mummy – Sunmisola Onyekwere
Q.May we know you Ma’am?.
A. My name is Sunmisola Onyekwere. I am a practicing Medical Doctor. I own a bridal store (IG @meemsbridals), I also retail children’s clothing and accessories online (IG: @meemkids)
I am a married to an amazing man and i am a mom.
Q. How many children do you have?
A. I have a 22 months old daughter and expecting a second in a couple of days.
Q. How do you cope? You wear a number of hats: practicing Medical Doctor, entrepreneur, mom, (Pastor’s ) wife.
Honestly I ask myself that question everyday. I have been blessed with a fantastic support system which includes not only family but amazing friends. I have learnt to take/receive help when it is offered.
Q. What has motherhood taught you?
A. Motherhood has taught me how to love unconditionally and how to be patient. I still lose it sometimes but who doesn’t right?
Q: What do you miss most about your pre-mom days?
OMG! …. I miss making plans spontaneously and actually going through with it and most especially entering a store and buying things for myself ONLY without feeling guilty.
Q. Being a parent changes you. What is different about you now?
A. I definitely pray more now, I am more thoughtful. Unfortunately I am even more disorganised than I was before I became a mom though heheha ha.
Q. Do you have your moments of doubt as a mother or do you believe you have perfected the art?
A. I have doubts everyday especially about the amount of time I spend with my daughter. I wake up early and get home Late everyday because of work. Even when I am home I still work, because of my online businesses. I must confess, everyday I contemplate quitting but then I remember I have a mom who did it all and still raised amazing kids , i am reassured that I can do it all.
Q. What do you know now you wish somebody had told you before being a mom?
A. I wish someone had told me my life will never be just mine alone. That I would have an appendage for the next 18yrs-20yrs (or 15yrs depending on when I get tired and kick them all out lol)
Q. As a Christian, We believe you live a different standard than the average man on the streets. In what ways does this impact the way you raise your child(ren)
A. I am raising my children to believe from a young age that God is not a means to an end but an End in himself. I was raised to go to God when I need his help but I am going to raise my children to see and experience the supernatural even in their daily life.
Q.How do you stay looking so young and fit?
A. I wish I knew. I am too lazy to exercise neither do I eat right. I have never been a big eater so I guess starvation and regular lime and water detox has helped.
